The L-P School Foundation held a fundraising golf scramble on Sunday, April 27 at Pleasant Hill Golf Course. The event was attended by 21 pairs of golfers and raised almost $4,000 for the Foundation.
Coffee and donuts were served before the 10 am shotgun start. Lunch after the event included burgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Every golfer received a door prize. A silent auction featured four pieces made from Budd School gymnasium floor.
First place men were Brian Hinkle and Brock Dettmer; first place women were Kara Pearce and Courtney Gillette; first place Mixed were Kim and Mary Carr. All three winning teams donated back their $100 winnings.
Proximity prizes were awarded to Jack Gerhart for the longest putt by men on Hole 13; Soni Coey for the longest putt by women on Hole 18; Austin Burkepile for the longest drive by men on Hole 9; Jen Allerding for the longest drive by women on Hole 16; Mary Carr for closest to water on Hole 1; Adam Harper for closest to driveway on Hole 4; and Kyle Gillette for closest to pin on Hole 8. All seven of these winners donated back their $25 prize.
LHS golf coach Jim Conley served as the "Designated Driver" on Hole 15, where he would drive any golfer’s first shot for a $5 donation. A 50-50 drawing was held and James Coey, LHS 2005, took home half of the $350 pot.
The Foundation thanks the 42 golfers who supported this event, the 40 area businesses and organizations that purchased sponsorships, and the Pleasant Hill Golf Course for their warm hospitality. Special thanks go to GBM Golf for their donation of custom golf balls and tees pictured above. Extra special thanks go to Jeff Frankford for all his work to make this event an overwhelming success.
The Foundation hopes to make this an annual event. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on April 26, 2026. To get a reminder next year, send an email with the words “golf outing” to support@lpschoolfoundation.org.
