The LHS Class of 2022 held its Senior Project, titled "Game Show Night," on Friday, March 18 at the C.E. Budd School Auditorium. An estimated crowd of 250 watched as seniors and school staff members put their own spin on five iconic TV game shows. Over 40 of the approximately 60 members of the Class of 2022 helped to make the evening a success, and the event raised almost $2,500.
The evening began with LPSF President Mike Bandy announcing the Foundation’s 2022 annual campaign has already raised over $117,000! In doing so, the Foundation has secured an additional $100,000 match from a challenge offered by the Ramser Family. Bandy explained how this will increase grants to the L-P Schools from roughly $20,000 per year to over $30,000. Jenna Book, President of the Class of 2022, joined the Foundation Trustees and added the final digit needed to display the $117,962 already raised.
Senior Ben Sanchez emceed four of the game shows, taking on the personas of TV hosts named Eubanks, Trebek, Harvey, and Krakowski. (Have you figured out these TV shows?) Senior Camden Stanton, with his blonde wig and Daisy Dukes, brought humor to the evening with his stylish ways of awarding prizes.
“The Newlyfriend Game” was a take-off of “The Newlywed Game,” with pairs trying to guess the answers of their friend partners. Two teachers, Mrs. Garver and Mrs. Sellers, won the hotly contested battle. Other friend pairs were Mr. Lemke & Ashton Henley; Mackenzie Wade & Avery Butts; Mrs. Arnold & Mrs. Butts; and Conner Portz & Zoie Lozier.
Four segments of “The Price Is Right” were hosted by Sydney Fry and Mackenzie Wade. In each segment, four audience members came to the stage after hearing their name called to, “Come on Down!” Contestants guessed the prices of somewhat unusual items. Winners were Dan Robinson, Shannon Sprang, Ben Drown, and Trey Nichols. Prizes included a gift card, a Polaroid camera, a flat screen TV, and a night at Landoll’s Mohican Castle.
For the “Jeopardy!” Segment, contestants included Nathan Tarleton, David Noble, and Blake Robinson. Some of the categories included Mr. Battaglia’s Top Five Presidents, Birdwatching with Mr. Conley, and Mr. Weber’s Lunch Break. The winner was Nathan Tarleton.
“The Family Feud” featured the Seniors versus the Teachers. Senior contestants included Garrett Kick, Catlyn Kauffman, Nate Morris, Gavin Carr, and Jeremy Morris. The Teachers included Mr. Lemke, Mr. Stoner, Mrs. Ross, Mr. Conley, and Mr. Drown. In another contentious battle, the Teachers emerged victorious.
“Name That Tune” featured contestants that volunteered from the audience. The first battle was Chris Paterson versus Anna Templeman, and the second contest pitted Darrell Kick against Dan Eckenwiler.
Audience members bringing items for the Helping Hand food pantry received raffle tickets for four $25 gas cards. Just over 100 items were collected for Helping Hand, and the gas card winners were Karen Henley, Susie Piskur, Patty Shannon, and Mona McMullen.
The seniors also ran a concession stand and held a silent auction with homemade baked goods.
The L-P School Foundation thanks the Class of 2022 for a great evening of entertainment and giving back to the community. Let’s see what the Class of 2023 chooses next year for its Senior Project!
